Hospital Celebrates
10 Years
SouthCrest Hospital celebrates 10 years of service in the community on Sunday, May 3, 2009. In just 10 years, SouthCrest has grown to be a leading health care provider in Northeastern Oklahoma. Since opening on May 3, 1999, SouthCrest has served more than 650,000 patients - delivering 15,078 babies, mending 13,549 hearts and treating 256,125 emergency room cases.
Although the hospital’s main mission is “bringing quality to life through people caring for people,” SouthCrest Hospital has also impacted the Tulsa community in another key way: economically. In 10 years the hospital has paid over $29 million dollars in local taxes. In addition to tax revenue, SouthCrest has provided $155.6 million dollars in charitable care - this includes bad debt, discounts to the uninsured and public service contributions. Employing 1,110 residents, supporting local vendors and reinvesting capital funds brings the total impact of the hospital on the Tulsa-area economy over the past decade to $593.6 million.
SouthCrest has reinvested in the community by adding: two medical office buildings; two additional hospital floors; an ambulatory surgery center; SouthCrest Medical Group, employing 34 skilled physicians; Tulsa’s Heart Hospital, including state-of-the-art cath labs, ICU and cardiac floor; The SouthCrest Wellness and Sports Medicine Center in the Union Multipurpose Activity Center; an emergency room expansion; outpatient physical therapy; and the Outpatient Diagnostic Center.
“We have dedicated the past 10 years to building a state-of-the-art facility with skilled physicians and quality staff to support the health care needs of this community. We continue to implement new programs, like Healthy Woman and Senior Circle, to educate and serve our residents,” said Anthony R. Young, CEO of SouthCrest Hospital.
SouthCrest anticipates the next 10 years to bring more growth and change to the hospital campus, allowing SouthCrest to better serve the growing communities of Broken Arrow, Jenks, Bixby and South Tulsa.
